Say Yes to the Suit

bathing suits“She wore a total coverage, tummy controlled, black full piece with a skirt . . .” This doesn’t quite have the same ring as that of the famous bikini for which the song is famous for. However, that description is totally what I look for in a bathing suit as a proud mama of two.

Whether you are a modest mama like me or still like to rock a two piece, finding the perfect bathing suit can sometimes seem like an impossible task. To be honest, I was able to avoid it for many years when I lived in a beach town. I relied on cute cover ups as I played in the sand with my kiddos. Since moving to a town with a public swimming pool, I’ve had to deal with my swimsuit insecurities and find some quality bathing suits to “take the plunge” in.

I like to spend a little more money on a swimsuit than I do other items of clothing so I want to make sure that it is one that will last me for many summers! I’ve put together a list of  Fairfield County Moms Blog mama approved swimsuit stores:

Lands’ End

Lands’ End probably has the most comprehensive assortment of suits to flatter any figure. Their website has a Swim Finder that allows you to choose options that make up your perfect suit. You are able to weigh in on suit style, type of control, and which neckline you prefer leading you to a filtering of suits that meet your criteria. If the thought of online shopping makes you cringe, visit your local Sears and get a feel for the Lands’ End line in their built in shop. They also have a satisfaction guaranteed return policy which means you can simply order, try them on in the privacy of your own home and just send it back if you don’t like the fit.

Tommy Bahama at Zappo’s

Tommy Bahama

Visit Lord & Taylor or Nordstrom for a great variety of Tommy Bahama swimsuits. This line has a variety of styles from bikinis to board shorts. Their prints are adorable, too! Tommy Bahama is known for being versatile and like Lands’ End you can mix and match to create your perfect look. Major plus is that you can find them in a department store.

Kortni Jeane

If coordinating with your little is your thing, Kortni Jeane is the perfect place to shop. This online shopping store allows you to mix and match with the option of also matching with children sizes. Their styles are more unique than the average swimsuit store with tied up tops and high-waist bottoms as part of their collection. Return policy is standard, making online shopping a bit easier.

Bleu by Rod Beattie at Macy’s

From brands like Miraclesuit to Nike, Macy’s has a huge selection of quality swimsuits and you can’t beat their fantastic sales. The Miraclesuit’s reviews boast that you can lose 10 pounds in 10 seconds. I haven’t personally tried one, but it seems many women are happy with their purchase! Macy’s offers many styles from this line as well as other classic designers like Bleu by Rod Beattie.

Maternity Twist-Front Bandeau Tankini Top – Ebony

For Maternity: Old Navy

Old Navy traditional suits may not be a popular choice, but their maternity suits are a favorite among many mamas. Check out this cute one for the mother-to-be!

Costco, Target, and Banana Republic are also worth mentioning. All three stores have a nice variety of styles and prints. Target and Costco offer the most affordable swimsuits out of all the stores listed.

What swimsuit style is your favorite? Where do you like to shop for bathing suits?
