Hello FCMB Readers! My name is Abby and I am happy to be able to share some of my stories with you – both the mom version of myself and the non-mom version (it’s all about the balance, right?). I am a true Fairfield Country girl who was raised in Norwalk. Over the last decade, I have lived in Norwalk, Stamford and now Greenwich. I love to travel, workout, bake, and go out to eat. I have two boys – Ben is 5 and Tommy is 3. They are smart, funny and just a little mischievous!
I am a full time middle school Spanish teacher and I love what I do. My kids are well taken care of during the day by our trusted and loved daycare teachers, and I am able to use a different part of my brain that doesn’t involve playgrounds and nap negotiations! My independence is really important to me. I have a supportive husband and we both believe that time alone – and time together away from the kids – are just as important as quality time spent with the kids. You have to take care of yourself in order to take good care of others. Teaching allows me to be me and do what I love. In turn, I’m a better mom for my boys.
Our school days are hectic. We are out the door by 7:15 in order to drop off at daycare and be at work by 8am. At 4pm I leave work and go right back to pick up the boys and make it home by 5pm to start dinner. From 5-8pm, our house is hectic. Dinner is made and eaten, there are baths, games, reading, maybe a movie or iPad game, teeth brushed and all sorts of bedtime shenanigans. Normally by 8 or 8:15, the lights are out and my husband and I get to snuggle with the boys for a few minutes. After a bit one of them will shout, “switch!” and we swap one delicious little guy for another. Once we have had enough snuggles, we leave them be and they are knocked out. The days are packed!
This summer we have been on a more relaxed schedule and are getting to know our new neighborhood in Greenwich. I am excited to share our adventures with you all!
