Sound Tigers: Good Old Fashion Family Fun

This post is sponsored by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, but the opinions are my own. Please support our sponsors.

When my older son was 3.5 years old, we took him to his first Bridgeport Sound Tigers game. He’s been hooked ever since. Every January/February we find a Sunday, 3:00 p.m. game to attend. This year my younger son is finally old enough to join in this family fun experience. Over the years my family has attended a half dozen games, each game better than the last.

The Sound Tigers, a minor league team for the NY Islanders, makes hockey accessible to all. As a family that manages food allergies, we have never felt uncomfortable or unsafe in the arena. The vendors are knowledgeable and friendly, as well as affordable. Also, because the organization cares more about health than making money, they allow us to bring in a snack or two. (We have to get clearance before the game off of the website, but it’s very easy and fast). My boys are even members of the Sound Tigers fan club! The membership is free and gets them each a free ticket to a game.Storm is amazing!

Being a family friendly team, the Sound Tigers have many promotions. They promote summer reading by having a CHET giveaway. Throughout the season they have a variety of promotions, including jersey night, character skates, and my sons’s favorite, bobblehead giveaways. They also work with local schools to give opportunities for choirs to sing. Another way the Sound Tigers give back is by supporting ice rinks and hockey teams around the state. They even do birthday parties and Zamboni rides.

It’s all about the snacks and souvenirs.

For more information and to purchase tickets you can visit their website and follow them on Facebook and Instagram.

Maria Sette
Maria is a full-time mom, teacher, wife, daughter, and sister, who feels pulled in too many directions! Her older son Michael took over 24 hours to be born, and at six-months-old was diagnosed with allergies to dairy, eggs, nuts, soy, shrimp, and wheat…all after exclusively nursing because she was SO SURE that would help him be a healthy kid. Luckily at age 1, he began to outgrow some of his allergies. Fingers crossed the others will soon follow because that plus a husband who doesn’t eat any veggies and Maria always battling her weight makes for three meals to prepare every night. Luckily, Christopher, her younger son, is a cooperative eater! As someone who has always been committed to making positive change, Maria uses her privilege and position as an educator and mom to work toward a most anti-racisit, equitibile, and inclusive world. Recently, Maria has even started getting up at 5am to workout in her basement. (Thank you pandemic living!) She is addicted to reading chicklit on her Kindle app in the dark, most Trader Joe’s products, and watching TikToks.
