Save Your Hair From Summer

1

As I look out the window at a day that is a little windy and overcast, I can’t believe the summer is almost over. Though I think my hair is probably glad it is— while the sun, sand, and water have been great for my mood, they haven’t been so great for my hair! Add in the daily use of hair bands to hold it all back, and you’ve got a recipe for hair disaster in need of repair. Luckily, I think I’ve finally found the 3 things that I need to keep my hair in check for the rest of the summer:

Frizz-Fighting Tips

I just discovered that August is National Anti-Frizz Month, as declared by the haircare brand Alberto VO5. Makes sense to me! Because if you’re anything like me, you are also desperately trying to manage what the humidity and summer fun has done to your locks, so I found visiting their site and reading up on how to deal with summer frizz super useful.

Argan Oil

Yes, it’s the hair product on everyone’s lips but it’s great for summer. That’s because Argan Oil is lightweight yet really slicks down those dry split ends. I like Josie Maran Argan Oil because it’s only Argan oil and is organic, and you can also use it on your skin. MoroccanOil Hair Treatment is another standby for smoothing out frizz and you can use it wet or dry. I use oil by putting it in the ends of wet hair after washing, and a little more in the ends after doing my hair up.

Braids

What’s the best way to hide frizzy hair this summer? As much as I love the fedora craze, it’s too hot to always cover up. I’ve been doing side swept braids with casual wisps hanging out. But I also love checking out Pinterest to get inspiration for all the latest braided looks. Also, this article from RealSimple.com shows great adult-worthy styles. Because the Heidi look is cute…on toddlers.

Enjoy your last few weeks of shorts, flip-flops, and pretty pedicures. See you in the fall!
