Have you ever used packing cubes to travel? If you haven’t, well then you are missing out on one of the greatest organizational tools ever created! Packing cubes essentially act like drawers inside your luggage and allow you to find your items much faster. They come in a variety of sizes and colors and have multiple uses for organizing your items. This is why every mom needs packing cubes to travel.
When I first saw them advertised, I thought it would be a waste of money to have these little colorful containers inside my luggage. I was very wrong! Not only did they help me organize my items, but they have been a lifesaver when I travel with my two kids. Let’s face it, every time you travel with your family, you are the one doing the packing. The packing cubes allow you to easily organize your items and find them once you need them.
I usually organize my packing cubes by clothing type. I use one for tops, one for bottoms, and another for pajamas, socks, and underwear. Since they come in a variety of sizes, I can play around with how I organize our items depending on how long the trip is or where we are going.
If we are traveling to the beach, then one packing cube contains bathing suits and beach outfits. When we travel to a winter location, one packing cube has waterproof jackets/pants. My sister has a baby and a toddler and uses the small packing cubes in her diaper bag to organize diapers, wipes, bibs, and food. The options are really endless in terms of how you want to organize them.
I didn’t really appreciate my packing cubes until I was at a hotel and went to get my son’s pajamas for the evening. I unzipped his small packing cube that contained pajamas, socks, and underwear, and took out the items within five seconds. Then, I went to take out his clothes for the next day and unzipped the packing cube that had all his shirts, and the other that had his shorts. I did not have to dig under piles of clothes to find what I was looking for. It was easy, fast, and convenient. Game changer!

My advice if you don’t own any is to buy some medium and small/slim sized packing cubes. They are the most versatile. I have bought them in a variety of colors and mix/match them depending on the trip. I know people who have bought a certain color for each child and others who have bought the compression packing cubes to save even more space. My husband uses the large packing cubes because his clothes are much larger than ours. So, it really depends on your preference.
Regardless of how you use them, packing cubes are sure to save you time and keep your family’s items easy to find without having to search for buried clothes. Consider using them on your next trip and you’ll see how packing doesn’t need to be such a nightmare.
