Our LITERAL Summer Bucket List

0

I love lists. Seriously. I make lists for everything. I have notebooks all over the house with chores to do, errands to run, meals to make, events to attend, and any other list you can imagine. After being inspired by THIS post by Laura (it is about the fact that we only get so many summers with our young children), I resolved that I needed to employ my list making skills to get our SUMMER BUCKET LIST in order. Instead of reaching for a pen and paper this time, I decided to make our bucket list more tangible and visible, appropriately, with an actual bucket.  Cute enough to leave out on a shelf, I knew this ten-dollar craft would help keep our bucket list on track this summer.

I wanted to involve my kids in the creation process, so I had my son bring everyone together and jot down all the fun things we should do this summer. We chose to have three categories: activities we wanted to DO, places we wanted to GO, and things we wanted to LEARN.  It was so much fun listening to their ideas and understanding what was most important to them. It was also hilarious hearing some of the off-the-wall adventures they hoped to have.  Just making the list together proved to be a family memory in itself.

I scoured our very own Fairfield County Mom’s blog for ideas and hit the jackpot!  So many great suggestions, many of which made it onto our list!

What I Did This Summer

Mommy’s Summer Bucket List

Once our list was complete, I gathered supplies from a local craft store:

Bucket, Wooden Clothes Pins, Permanent Marker, and Embellishments (I went for scrapbook paper and Mod Podge)

Here are a few activities from our bucket list:

  • GO PICK STRAWBERRIES & MAKE JAM
  • FINISH READING HARRY POTTER #1
  • VISIT FIVE BEACHES IN FIVE STATES (we already had a few of these planned)
  • GO CAMPING
  • GET HIT IN THE FACE WITH A PIE (like I said, I let the kids throw in some pretty random suggestions, which actually will make for some fun times)

The kids are very excited that they get to drop the clothes pin into the bucket once each activity is complete. I love that it is a fun way to teach them the process of setting and working to accomplish goals.

What is at the top of your SUMMER BUCKET LIST?
