It’s Not Too Late For Some Summer Magic!

1

Summer Magic Fairfield CountyIt seems just shortly after the 4th of July, people begin to lament about the summer going so fast. Some even go as far as to complain that it is almost over. These words are a teacher’s kryptonite! So if you find yourself anxious about the lazy days of summer drawing to a close – stop that nonsense this instance, because you still have time to . . .

1. Lie in a hammock. Even if it is for five minutes. Who are we kidding? That’s about all you’ll get before someone needs something. But just do it. It embodies summer and carefree days.

2. Go for ice-cream. Before dinner. If possible, choose an outdoor creamery with a view.

3. Eat breakfast outside. Nothing like coffee on the deck to start a summer morning before the heat of the day.

4. Go for a swim. Beach, pool or lake. Take the family along with you (or not) and be sure to do some back floating.

5. Get a pedicure. You still have plenty of time to show those pampered feet off!

6. Say yes to one more bedtime story and one more cuddle. Later bedtimes for all! And if you can, snooze a little later the next morning.

7. Read one more book. In a couple of days. Enough said.

8. Roast a marshmallow. Gather around the fire pit and make some S’mores. Maybe even let the kiddos light the remaining sparklers and pretend that it is still the 4th of July.

9. Run through the rain (or a sprinkler).

10. Listen to some outdoor music. Plenty of parks are still offering some free concerts. Pack a picnic dinner and your best dancing partners.

Shannon
Shannon has lived in Fairfield County, CT for most of her life and currently lives in Monroe. She has a daughter L (September, 2008) and a son B (May, 2012). Shannon balances being a wife and mom with working 186 days out of the year as a special education teacher. Thank goodness for vacations, summer break, and snow days! You can be sure that she fills those days with as many amazing activities and outings that she can think of to make up for the time that she is at work. In a distant life, way before babies, Shannon was an aspiring actress and musician. You can sometimes still find her leading sing-a-longs with her guitar at the kids’ playgroups or at her daughter’s school.

  1. Great list! My family likes to go for a quick walk together after dinner but before bath time. It’s an easy way to soak up some extra sun at the end of the day 🙂
