A Mom’s Guide to Fairfield County :: January 2018

Happy New Year! It’s time for fresh starts, resolutions, and finding new ways to enjoy all that Fairfield County has to offer us! Here is a list of family fun activities to enjoy this month. This is in no way intended to be a comprehensive guide, so if you have suggestions or any great activities that we’ve missed, please leave a comment to let us know!

Bridgeport

  • Thursday, January 4 – Sunday, January 7 :: Discover the full story of Disney’s Frozen like never before at Disney on Ice: Frozen at Webster Bank Arena.
  • Saturday, January 6 :: Bring your kids to Home Depot to build a Block Calendar. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a free certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.
  • Saturday, January 13 – Sunday, February 11 :: Bring the whole family to see a performance of Pinocchio at the Downtown Cabaret Children’s Theatre. Performances run on Saturdays and Sundays.

Danbury 

  • All Month :: Enjoy a sensory friendly environment at AMC. Movies for this month include The Greatest Showman (Tuesday, January 9), Ferdinand (Saturday, January 13), and 12 Strong (Tuesday, January 23), and Paddington 2 (Saturday, January 27).
  • Saturday, January 6 :: Bring your kids to Home Depot to build a Block Calendar. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a free certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.

  • Saturday, January 6 :: Bring your kids to Home Depot to build a Block Calendar. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a free certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.
  • Friday, January 26 :: Enjoy an exhilarating night of all kinds of talent from Connecticut from Singers, Bands, Dancers, Dance Troupes, Magicians, Comedians, and exciting Specialty Acts at Wall Street Theater for Connecticut’s Got Talent LIVE Auditions
  • Saturday, January 27 – Sunday, January 28 :: Have fun with LEGOs at the Maritime Aquarium’s LEGO Weekend.

  • Saturday, January 13 :: Spend the night in a special, colourful, happy place called Bubblelandia at The Underwater Bubble Show at The Palace.
  • Sunday, January 14 :: Have a one-of-a-kind puppetry experience at Cardboard Explosion at The Palace which brings original stories to life using nothing but cardboard and the power of your imagination.

Stratford

  • Saturday, January 6 :: Bring your kids to Home Depot to build a Block Calendar. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a free certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.

Trumbull

  • Thursday, January 4 – Saturday, January 6 :: Try out a free Tinkergarten class at the Trumbull Nature & Center. Registration required for the free class.
  • Saturday, January 6 :: Pick up some new literary finds at The Friends of the Trumbull Library Book Sale.
  • Saturday, January 6 :: Bring your kids to Home Depot to build a Block Calendar. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a free certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.

Westport

  • Sunday, January 21 :: Bring the whole family to enjoy Nugget and Fang at The Westport Country Playhouse. 
  • Saturday, January 20 :: Celebrate all things winter at Winterfest at Earthplace. Activities include snowshoeing, guided trail walks, snowflake making, mini ice sculptures, and lots of other winter crafts and treats!

Wilton

  • Friday, November 24 – Monday, January 15:: Bring your train lovers to the interactive Great Trains Holiday Exhibit at the Wilton Historical Society. Dressed for the holidays, the Wilton Historical Society’s historic 18th and 19th century buildings are transformed into a train-lovers delight with many different train layouts winding through tiny towns with a variety of different kinds of buildings, tunnels and two working Ferris Wheels! An expanded new Lego set up makes its debut this year. In a special train room for the youngest guests, there are buttons galore plus Thomas the Tank Engine and Brio for hands-on fun.
