A Mom’s Guide to Fairfield County :: February 2018

It’s February and germs and love are in the air! We probably all have a little cabin fever, so here is a list of family fun events to enjoy this month. This is in no way intended to be a comprehensive event guide, so if you have suggestions or any great events that we’ve missed, please leave a comment to let us know!

Bridgeport

  • Saturday, January 13 – Sunday, February 11 :: Bring the whole family to see a performance of Pinocchio at the Downtown Cabaret Children’s Theatre. Performances run on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Saturday, February 3 :: Bring your kids to Home Depot to build a Valentine Bean Bag Toss. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a free certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.
  • Friday, February 16 and Monday, February 19 :: Witness the ball handling wizardry, basketball artistry, and one-of-a-kind family entertainment that will thrill fans of all ages at Harlem Globetrotters at Webster Bank Arena.
  • Wednesday, February 14 :: Wear read to Beardsley Zoo and get 15% off admission to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
  • Saturday, February 17 :: Celebrate the Asian New Year at Beardsley Zoo with a children’s parade, story time and crafts.
  • Sunday, February 18 :: Bundle up for Princess Night at the Sound Tigers hockey game. 
  • Saturday, February 24 – Saturday, March 31  :: Bring the whole family to see a performance of Goldilocks at the Downtown Cabaret Children’s Theatre. Performances run on Saturdays and Sundays.

Danbury 

  • All Month :: Enjoy a sensory friendly environment at AMC. Movies for this month include Peter Rabbit (Saturday, February 10 and Saturday, February 24), The Maze Runner: The Death Cure (Tuesday, February 13), and Black Panther (Tuesday, February 27).
  • Saturday, February 3 :: Bring your kids to Home Depot to build a Valentine Bean Bag Toss. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a free certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.
  • Saturday, February 10 :: Head over to Hanna Andersson for a painting party with your valentines, big and little! The first 25 customers will receive a special canvas while supplies last, and there will be paper to share with everyone following.
  • Sunday, February 18 :: Get running at the Big “Chili” 5K run (with free kids races).

Fairfield

Greenwich

  • Sunday, February 11 :: Enjoy the natural world, create nature-themed valentine crafts, and meet new animal friends at Audubon Greenwich for a Valentine’s Day family play date.

Monroe

  • Saturday, February 3 :: Watch a magic show, make crafts, play bingo, and listen to storytime for Take Your Child to the Library Day at Edith Wheeler Memorial Library. No registration required.

New Canaan

  • Saturday, February 3 :: Adopt a sugar maple tree as part of the Community Sugaring Program at New Canaan Nature Center.

Newtown

  • Wednesday, February 14 :: Join Everwonder for Valentine’s Day themed crafts and science all day long!
  • Friday, February 16 :: Celebrate winter at Dickinson Memorial Town Park for Winter-Bration, a fun evening for the entire family, including games, a DJ, and a bonfire.

Norwalk

  • Friday, February 2 and Friday, February 23 :: Enjoy an exhilarating night of all kinds of talent from Connecticut from Singers, Bands, Dancers, Dance Troupes, Magicians, Comedians, and exciting Specialty Acts at Wall Street Theater for Connecticut’s Got Talent LIVE Auditions Show 2 and Show 3
  • Saturday, February 3 :: Bring your kids to Home Depot to build a Valentine Bean Bag Toss. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a free certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.
  • Saturday, February 10 :: Dance the night away at Stepping Stones Museum for the Winter Wonderland Children’s Ball and Bubble Show. Reservations are required.
  • Saturday, February 17 – Monday, February 19 :: “Strive for the Gold” at the Maritime Aquarium. You will have the opportunity to take part in bonus activities, some of which test your skills in comparison to those of aquatic animals. If you complete all the activities, you will earn a medal and get a photo opp at the medals-ceremony podium. All “Strive for the Gold” activities will be free with Aquarium admission.

Old Greenwich

Ridgefield

  • Saturday, February 10 :: Head over to the Arts & Nature School of Ridgefield for a day of Valentine’s fun with 3 workshop choices – chocolate lollipops, Valentine’s cards, or paint-your-own wooden heart-shaped box or wooden treasure chest.
  • Monday, February 26 – Sunday, March 4 :: Enjoy delicious eats at Ridgefield Restaurant Week.

Shelton

Southport

  • Saturday, February 17 and & Sunday, February 18 :: Pick up some new books at Pequot Library’s Mid-Winter Book Sale.

Stamford

Stratford

Trumbull

  • Sunday, February 11 :: Come together to celebrate diversity in our community, while shopping and raising money for Love ALL Project at Pure Poetry.

Westport

  • Sunday, February 11 :: Bring the whole family to enjoy Junie B. Jones at The Westport Country Playhouse. 

Wilton

  • Sunday, February 25 :: Join Norwalk River Watershed Association at Woodcock Nature Center for an “Owl Prowl,” including a discussion of area owls and their habitat and a prowl through the trees in search of these graceful nocturnal hunters. The event is free and all ages are welcome.
