LEGOLAND – An Adventure Next Door!

Legoland

Fairfield County Moms Blog sponsor LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester is just a short trip down the Merritt Parkway, and totally worth a drive! Perfect for 3 – 10 year old LEGO lovers, it will have your kids interacting with their favorite characters and toys in no time.

Recently, they launched their new 4D movie: LEGO® NINJAGO®: Master of the 4th Dimension, and my kids and I got to sneak a peak and enjoy all that LEGOLAND has to offer. We arrived right at 10 a.m. when they opened their doors and were immediately in awe at how literally everything is made from LEGOs – even the cash registers! Once you get your tickets, the adventure begins in a room that allows the kids to create LEGO images digitally and shows how they are pressed into their iconic shapes.

What’s Inside LEGOLAND?

The first big thing we did after that was to take a ride on Kingdom Quest where it was up to us to save the princess! The boys loved using their laser blasters to get the dragons, rocks and trolls that stood in our way. In the end we were victorious and all was right in the kingdom again. Next we made our way to Miniland where we saw incredible replicas of NYC buildings and landmarks like the Flatiron building, Yankee Stadium, the Statue of Liberty and the George Washington Bridge! Of course, all were built from nothing but LEGO bricks!

After playing on the earthquake tables (can your creation withstand an earthquake in LEGOLAND?), we made our way to the incredible indoor play space otherwise known as LEGO NINJAGO City Adventure.  It was modeled after the Temple of Airjitzu, and includes great features like an obstacle course, spinning wheel entrance, and multiple climbing features all within a 2-story play structure. It’s very kid friendly and with only one way in and out, very parent friendly as well!

Once we had burned off some steam, we went in for the main attraction – the new 4D movie: LEGO® NINJAGO®: Master of the 4th Dimension! This 15 minute film was a hit for everyone. The kids loved the storyline (“Become part of the 4D action as not everything goes to plan with the ninjas needing your help in mastering the 4th Dimension – the universe depends on it!”) and the interactive features like a light water spray on you when there is a splash on the screen. I loved that it was only 15 minutes (good for short attention spans!) and something we all could enjoy. The theater was clean and the staff were very friendly.

When the movie was over, we went to the LEGO Friends area. We sang a quick karaoke song and built some structures. Then we were off to take a quick ride on Merlin’s Apprentice Ride where we took off in flight and pedaled our way up to the sky!

A New Adventure Every Time!

There is so much to do at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester that we will have to make another trip soon. We didn’t even get to play much with the LEGO Racers Build and Test area, but we did make a quick stop at the cafe so mommy could get a Starbucks coffee for the ride home!

The highlight of the morning had to be getting to meet Kai, the Red Ninja, in person. The joy of giving a LEGO hero a high five is enough alone to take your kids next weekend!  You won’t regret taking on this adventure next door!
