Jumpsuits are, without a doubt, a statement style. They are cute and trendy, but they’re not exactly the easiest things to wear. The head-to-toe, all-in-one garment creates a striking look that moves beyond a simple dress or pants and top combo, and into more fashionable territories. So why then, do so many women still avoid this trend-worthy style? Here is our guide on how to rock a jumpsuit.
1. Choosing A Jumpsuit
Like dresses, jumpsuits come in many styles, so part of pulling off this look is all about finding the right jumpsuit for you. When shopping for a jumpsuit consider your needs. Are you after a casual jumpsuit to wear during the day or something more formal for an evening look? In general, styles that are fitted at the waist and then looser on the legs tend to be the most flattering. If you have a really long torso many jumpsuits now have adjustable straps. The best advice is to try on different styles and see which one works for your body type. Every shape and size can find a style that looks great on them!
2. Logistics
Let’s just dive right in with what you really want to know. How do you use the bathroom without being fully naked? So it’s true jumpsuits are not the most convenient garment when you have to use the restroom. I often solve this issue by wearing a layering tank or cami under the jumpsuit. On the bright side, many jumpsuits are extremely nursing friendly and can be a great piece for new moms to rock. In all honesty, it is not as bad as you think, you just do what you have to do and move on.
3. Is it called a Jumpsuit or a Romper?
Fashion jargon can be confusing, so we created this quick little reference for you.
JUMPSUIT – is a one-piece garment having top/blouse attached to the bottom and is available in all possible fabrics and fashions, It may or may not be Capri length.
ROMPER – A simple one-piece garment like a jumpsuit with a minor change of bottom length. A romper always has attached shorts in the bottom instead of full length or Capri length pants.
4. Rocking the Romper
I personally find rompers to be easier to style than jumpsuits. There is just less fabric and I find them more forgiving. My favorite way to wear a romper is instead of t-shorts and shorts, and it instantly makes the outfit more classy. I also find rompers to be an excellent choice for a swimsuit cover-up.
5. When and Where do you wear them?
That is the wonderful thing about jumpsuits and rompers you can really wear them anywhere. Grab a tailored monochromatic piece to wear at weddings or elegant events. A casual colorful jumpsuit is ideal for a warm summer picnic. You can even wear a jumpsuit to work with the proper styling, such a cardigan or blazer. The possibilities are endless.
