Fairfield County Craft Beer Round-Up

As April 7th is National Beer Day, it seemed appropriate to compile a list of all the wonderful places in Fairfield County where you can enjoy a local brew!

Fairfield County (2)

Craft breweries have been popping up in Fairfield County (and all over Connecticut!) in recent years, which makes for an exciting tasting adventure. There are also many restaurants that do an excellent job of stocking local beers.

Our Fairfield County breweries are:

Veracious Brewing Company – Monroe

Two Roads Brewing Company – Stratford

Half Full Brewery – Stamford

Southport Brewing Company – Southport/Milford

Since jumping around to all the various breweries can be challenging as a parent, another option is to head to a restaurant where you can sample various beers all in one place. Local is my favorite spot to do this. Due to the extensive research required to write this post (okay, that may be a bit of an exaggeration), I ventured over to Local with my sister and 1-year-old daughter. I made it a point to order a beer from one of the breweries list above. I tend to prefer unfiltered beers, so I went with the Two Roads, “No Limits” hefeweisen. And it was exactly what I was craving, so I am glad I made a good choice!

As you can see from their menu below, Local has quite the list of beers. And that is only one side of their beer menu! So, if you are looking for something specific, or are in the mood to try something new, Local is the perfect place to grab a beer and a bite!

If you are in need of a family friendly excursion outside of Fairfield County, I would suggest a ride up to Black Hog Brewery in Oxford. They make an IPA with fresh ginger named, “Ginga Ninja”, and it is awesome! Kids are welcome into their tasting room, and they have food trucks on site on Saturday afternoons. Plus, is it only five minutes from Southford Falls State Park, which is the prefect place to go for a hike and enjoy some fresh air!

For a complete list of breweries in Connecticut, check out the CT Beer Trail map. But beware – there is a lot of ground to cover. Don’t try to do it all in one day!

Happy National Beer Day! (and please drive safely!)

Parker enjoys our brewery adventures, too!

I like that you’re writing about mommyhood in contexts apart from strict “mothering.” Great to read “date night” type articles!
