Taco Tuesday, or more frequently seen on social media as #tacotuesday, makes mamas happy. (Let’s be real, it makes almost everyone happy). No matter how much of a meal planner you are, having tacos for dinner on Tuesdays is always delicious, simple, and fun. And now that evenings are getting longer and warmer, a margarita gives us one more reason to smile.

On a recent #tacotuesday, Geronimo Tequila Bar & Southwest Grill in Fairfield hosted some members of the Fairfield County Moms Blog contributor team for dinner. Geronimo is conveniently located on the Post Road and has a large parking lot, making it a great meeting spot for us mamas who were driving from a handful of Fairfield County towns. The restaurant itself is expansive with a large patio, several indoor dining areas, and a spacious bar.

Speaking of bar, Geronimo’s slogan is “Let Us Be Your ‘Tequila Story.” They’re serious tequila enthusiasts and experts. So serious that they have over 400 types of tequila, which translates to the largest selection that any restaurant offers on the East Coast! They’ve even earned special recognition from Mexico’s Tequila Regulatory Council, an award that has only been granted to about 40 restaurants worldwide! So, clearly, this is the place to go for a margarita!

Geronimo’s is also the place to go if you want to eat and drink at a scorpion table. Yes, you read that correctly. We were seated at a long table that has a glass showcase. As we were sipping our delicious classic margaritas, we noticed something more than sand and pieces of wood. Seven scorpions (sans stingers) live in there! Talk about taking ambiance to the next level!

Executive Chef Arturo Franco-Camacho’s menu is focused on authentic Southwestern cuisine, featuring such dishes as Navajo frybread, an award-winning green chile stew (with peppers sourced from New Mexico!), burritos, quesadillas, and, of course, tacos!

Their weekly Taco Tuesday special includes two tacos and a margarita for $12! Between the eight of us, we tried more than half of the taco options. The braised short rib was tender and the fried onions on top added a nice crunch; the shrimp was an explosion of flavor, especially with an extra lime squeeze; the mahi mahi and tuna options were both on the lighter side and complimented well by the tangy radish or mango, respectively. We totally would have ordered more tacos had we not filled up on the tableside guacamole and chips.

We did need to try some of their desserts, because why not? The churros were fried to perfection while being amazingly flaky. Each one had a different filling – chocolate, nutella, and caramel – and there were three dipping sauces and vanilla bean ice cream as well. So yummy! The apple crisp had steel cut oats and tart yet sweet apples, perfectly cooked! These mamas left happy and stuffed!

In addition to its Taco Tuesday special, they also offer the following:

  • ½ off tequila on Sundays
  • ½ off made-to-order guacamole on Mondays
  • Happiest Hour specials on food and drinks 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday-Saturday
  • Weekend brunch 11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

They’ve also just launched a new summer menu, so book a sitter and check it out! On the patio, at the bar, or the scorpion table! (And if you want to bring the kids, that’s cool too. They have a kid’s menu!).

You’re welcome. Really, you are.
