Contributor Happy Hour :: Harlan Haus

Happy Hour is happy time for most mamas! It’s always fun when you can break up the usual happenings of the week and meet up with some girlfriends and enjoy some kid-free company. The Fairfield County Moms Blog contributor team recently got together at Harlan Haus located in Bridgeport for a much needed moms’ night out!

This German-inspired bier and wurst hall is located in the grand historic People’s Bank building in downtown Bridgeport. It was a perfect casual meeting spot and would make for a fun date night with the hubby (especially if he is a beer lover…das boot!). The atmosphere is welcoming, vibrant, and modern.

The menu features European dishes, such as sausages, Bavarian soft pretzels, pierogis, and sauerkraut, as well as American favorites including burgers, fries, salads, sandwiches and vegetarian options. We were lucky to get the chance to sample it all, along with some delicious cocktails (and mocktails!).

Harlan Haus features long communal picnic and high top tables and bar, designed as a social environment where people of all ages can gather. Owner and Chef Stephen Lewandowski’s vision for Harlan Haus started as soon as he walked into the People’s Bank building for the first time. He knew right then that the space would be perfect for a European-style beer hall where everyone could enjoy great food and drink and spend time with one another. (Stephen also owns Harlan Publick in Norwalk and Harlan Social in Stamford – each restaurant offers something unique).

Though this beer hall includes a modern twist, the restaurant stays true to a European-style hall with a premium house light and dark beer on tap, large steins, fried pickles, and of course, sausages.  Not to mention the family-style plates that are great for sharing. The menu has something for everyone. The space is also welcoming to families and is kid-friendly. There’s even a small game room with shuffle board and darts!

In addition to its regular hours, Harlan Haus hosts holiday brunches that are open to all ages. Harlan Haus has two upcoming events that you won’t want to miss!
