On the list of “essentials” for a new baby, a car seat tops the list. It’s a baby registry “must have.” I remember registering for baby gear and to say that I was overwhelmed was an understatement. There are hundreds of choices for car seats. They all come in different styles and colors with their own safety claims. Choosing a car seat is one of the most important decisions we as parents can make for our children. It’s something we use daily, probably multiple times a day, and it’s sole purpose is to keep our babies safe in the car. Even more important is making sure we’ve installed it properly. Yet, 3 out of 4 of us are doing it wrong. Yup, 96% of us parents think we’ve installed a car seat correctly but most of us are wrong.

Just think about that fact for a moment…75% of car seats on the road are not installed correctly. That’s an alarming number of children traveling in an improperly installed car seat, no? Fairfield County Moms Blog had the chance to partner with Britax and learn more about child safety with some of our favorite local moms and bloggers. Just in time for Child Passenger Safety Week (Sept. 18 – 24), I’m excited to share what we learned from our fabulous Britax technician, Beth! Fairfield County bloggers

Britax has developed a new revolutionary product that makes car seat installation incredibly easy. The Britax Advocate ClickTight makes it possible to install the seat in 3 simple steps. No, really! You lift the “seat” of the car seat, thread the seat-belt through and secure it, then click the “seat” back into place. We were astounded at the ease of installation. No amount of wiggling and jiggling would move that car seat once it had been installed!

Britax clicktightIn addition to this magically easy installation, Britax has also developed the Anti-Rebound Bar. The ARB is a steel bar that attaches to the foot-end of the ClickTight car seats for use when the car seats are rear-facing (Remember, infants and toddlers are safest riding in a rear-facing car seat until they are two). The beauty of the ARB is that is it can reduce rebound rotation by 40% in the event of a crash. Just one more reason why Britax has changed the car seat game when it comes to safety standards.

I cannot say enough good things about this car seat. Not only is it incredibly ease to install and has incredible safety features, but my son looks so cozy in it and loves riding in it. I am confident that he is safe and comfortable while in the car. There is nothing more reassuring than knowing your child is protected.
