Last year, I raved about a Bridgeport Sound Tigers game being the perfect family outing. I haven’t changed my tune about that. We’ve gone to more games this season as a family or with friends and their kids. We’ve had a blast each time. My contributors feel the same way. But this year, I’m here to rave about the Sound Tigers for a different reason.

Two words: Date Night!

My husband and I recently attended a Friday night game with two other couples. We were all giddy to have kissed the kids goodbye, knowing someone else had to deal with bedtime that night. The aura of excitement in the arena amplifies that sense of freedom, making it feel much different from your typical date nights at a restaurant or movie theatre.

We didn’t need to worry about getting dressed up or spending a ton of money. We were just there to have fun. We could pick and choose what food we wanted to eat since the concessions range from Mexican to standard stadium fare to pizza. Similarly, the drinking options suited everyone’s preferences. We could grab a brew from one of the vendors to bring back to our seats, or change the scenery by heading up to Mason’s Bar on the third floor to sip a cocktail and watch the game on tv. Wherever we were, we could engage in conversation and really hear each other. Sure, we’d stop chatting to cheer or sing along to a great song, which only added to the pure feeling of fun.

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers really know how to draw in a crowd with themed nights that offer fantastic deals or giveaways. We attended the pre-game Hockey and Hops event. This popular beer-tasting event is incredibly well-run, with lines moving quickly. Sampling newly released and limited edition beers from local breweries was a great way to kick-off a great night.

Some upcoming events include:

  • Military Appreciation Night on Saturday, January 11
  • Star Wars Night on Saturday, January 18
  • BRYAC Bingo and Frosty Friday on Friday, January 31
  • 90s Night on Saturday, February 8

Suites and club seats are also available if you’re looking to take your date night to the next level of fun! So the next time you’re trying to think up a new experience for a night out, look no further than the Bridgeport Sound Tigers!
