Contributor Night Out at AR Workshop Fairfield

Fairfield County Moms Blog recently had a contributor night out at the new AR Workshop Fairfield conveniently located on Route 1 in Fairfield, CT. For most of us, this was our first time at the popular DIY (Do it Yourself) boutique workshop, which is owned by Fairfield moms, Jessica McCormack and Michele Scholl. Although you can find these popular DIY workshop boutiques throughout the United States, AR Workshop Fairfield is the very first to open in the state of Connecticut!

What makes AR Workshop stand out from other DIY workshops? The variety of projects you can make! Yes, you can make beautiful wooden signs, but you can also create photo frames, centerpiece boxes, canvases, and even jewelry. They had it all.

For our specific FCMB event we were focusing in on the canvas projects—tote bags, hanging signs and pillow cases. Prior to our workshop, contributors went online, selected the project of their choice and personalized it with names or initials. Easy peasy! We also started an email chain coordinating the beverages and food items we wanted to bring and share the night of the event.

When we arrived at AR Workshop we were greeted by co- owner, Jessica McCormack. She made us feel at home and helped us set up our food and drinks. We got settled in opening up our beverages and snacks while catching up with one another. While our projects were getting ready on the workshop tables, we had the opportunity to take pictures and explore the different art projects displayed throughout the store.

Once everyone had arrived we made sure to refill our glasses and sat down at our identified workstation. Jessica and her assistant, Nikkia walked us through the entire process, providing all the materials necessary to create our little masterpieces. We prepped our template, stained wooden pieces and painted on our canvases. While paint was drying, we chatted, took pictures and sang along to Jessica’s on-point playlist playing over the speakers. It was fun and relaxing. Exactly what us mamas needed.

Once the paint was completely dry, Jessica and Nikkia added final touches – like attaching the wooden pieces and strings for the signs and supplying a pillow to go in the canvas pillow cases.

They were beautiful! They were personalized! They were special because we made them. It was an awesome night. We can’t wait to go back.

Here are what some FCMB contributors had to say about the night:

“The staff at AR were happy to assist this first-timer in making my pillow cover. The workshop was well-kept and inviting. Will definitely book another project soon”Clara
