2018 Goals for Moms

goalsThe New Year is always a time of new beginnings, a time for change, and a perfect time for setting goals. Use some of that new positive energy to set your goals. All goals are attainable, however sometimes you do get knocked down and fall short. (It can be difficult to accomplish your goals, especially when you have little ones). Oh well, getting knocked down is part of life, getting up is living.

In order to get started, I’ve broken down my goal setting strategy into a few categories. Hopefully you’ll find this inspirational.

1.  Downtime

Schedule more downtime with your spouse, kids, and friends. Make weekly date night plans with your spouse and have a babysitter booked.  For the kids, don’t overschedule their activities and learn to say no to events. It’s so refreshing to have no plans on a random Saturday and let the day plan itself. Be the one who plans a girls night out. It’s easy to neglect relationships with your friends when you’re busy raising kids, but making these relationships a priority is good for your soul.

2.  Finances

Stretching your family’s paycheck is a challenge for any family. Create a budget to track all of your expenses. It helps to set short and long term financial goals. And modify this on a monthly basis.

3.  Organization

Getting organized takes time but it needs to become a habit. Once you stick to it, it will become a natural way of life. Plus having an organized system takes off a lot of the pressure that’s always seems to be mounting.

4.  Career

Career goals are personal and individual to each unique situation. It’s important to use your creative outlook and pursue what your good at.

5.  Health

Workout more and build a healthy body. Incorporate exercise into your life. Take it slow at first and then increase your intensity once you feel comfortable. Have an exercise plan of attack.

Get the kids and cook a new healthy dish. Expanding your palette and range of cooking skills is always a good idea. And don’t forget your rest, and hydration, very important.

Hopefully this advice and gentle tips help to give you some ideas for a better New Year and newer you! Here’s wishing you a Safe, Prosperous, and Happy 2018!
