My almost 2-year-old daughter can be deliriously tired but will still insist she is NOT ready for bed. That’s when the “fun” begins. Here is what our evening typically looks like.
Stage 1: Announcing it’s time to start getting ready for bed. Yay!
Stage 2: Toddler denial that it’s nighttime.
Stage 3: Mommy/daughter negotiation.
Stage 4: Negotiation doesn’t go over well. Put mommy foot DOWN. It’s bedtime.
Stage 6: Happiness again. Heading upstairs for the perfect hallmark moment bedtime routine.
Stage 7: Bath time, which is a big hit…for now.
Stage 8: Toddler never wants to leave the bath.
Stage 9: Happy dance once PJs are on!
Stage 10: Brushing teeth requires two toothbrushes, and mom to grow an extra limb.
Stage 11: Read every book imaginable.
Stage 12: Become a jukebox and sing nursery rhymes on demand.
Stage 13: Tell a story about a princess…10 billion times.
Stage 14: Give a minimum of 100 hugs and kisses goodnight.
What does your child’s bedtime routine look like? How many steps does it take for you!?
