So Many Places to Work Out, Great Foods to Eat: Meet Elysa

5

I am so excited to be a part of Fairfield County Moms Blog! I love connecting with moms in the area and look forward to chatting about all the nutrition and fitness aspects of mommyhood, including the all too important ME time, which many of us moms forget about until our stress levels are through the roof!   As Amy said,  sometimes saying “no” enables us to say “yes!” to what is most important.

As someone who has always loved being active, I have found that I can still fit in workouts, but they are often modified from what I used to do.   I LOVE that I can take my little guy (1-year-old) hiking, snowshoeing, biking, and Stroller Strides. We love to do so many activities as a family in Fairfield County (and we are discovering more all time, including some fun fitness events I will be talking about in my next post).

You’ll often find us playing frisbee at Calf Pasture Beach,  playing mini-golf, going to Stepping Stones Children’s Museum, eating at Tacos Mexico in Norwalk, going to Trivia night, or creating our own (inspired by Pub Trivia at O’Neill’s in South Norwalk which my husband and I used to attend religiously and even earned a few wins!), or renting kayaks or Stand Up Paddle Boards at Long Shore Sailing School in Westport. And Fairfield County has so many great kid-friendly running, biking, and triathlon events that I hope we’ll be participating in as a family in years to come. I’d love to hear about what you think are the best events in our area!

I am still working on the ultimate balancing act of having time for everything, but as I have said to my husband, “I’m never going to look back on these years and say thank goodness I did so much weeding!” Something’s got to give, and sometimes, it’s overgrown weeds!

We can all learn and get great ideas from each other!   I want to help get the word out about fun family fitness and health events in our area (if you know of great events, please share)!

Tell me what fitness and nutrition topics YOU want to talk about, your favorite ways to stay fit, what’s been topping your healthy food list (for yourself and your kids), recipes (I live for healthy make-ahead meals!), restaurants, and new workouts you’ve been into.

I can’t wait to hear from you!
