A Mom’s Guide to Fairfield County :: March 2017

Welcome March, Spring is officially on its way! It’s finally time to dig out the rain boots and get moving outside. This is in no way intended to be a comprehensive event guide, so if you have suggestions or any great events that we’ve missed, please leave a comment to let us know!

Bethel

Bridgeport

  • Saturdays & Sundays :: Attend a performance on Little Red Riding Hood at Downtown Cabaret. The show will run through April 2, 2017. 
  • Friday, March 3 – Sunday, March 5 :: Get your Monster Jam on at Webster Bank Arena.
  • Saturday, March 4 :: Bring your kids to make and paint their own Rain Gauge at Home Depot.
  • Saturday, March 4 – Sunday, March 5 :: Introduce your kids to fishing at Bass Pro Shop’s SFC Kids Next Generation Weekend. Free photo download, fishing seminar, craft, and foam caps.
  • Sunday, March 12 :: Have a family fun night full of magic and hockey at the Sound Tigers game for Magic Night.
  • Friday, March 17 :: Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the Beardsley Zoo. Kids wearing green socks get in free with a paying adult.

Danbury 

Fairfield

  • Wednesday, March 1 – Sunday, March 5 :: Enjoy some delicious eats during Fairfield Restaurant Week.
  • Saturday, March 4 :: Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with Cat in the Hat at the Fairfield University Bookstore with a reading of Green Eggs and Ham.
  • Saturday, March 4 :: Bring your kids to make and paint their own Rain Gauge at Home Depot.
  • Saturday, March 11 :: Hunt for leprechauns at Giant Steps {hunts at 10 a.m. or 11:30 a.m.}. Free event, but register by phone at 203-873-0755.

Greenwich

  • Thursday, March 2 :: Celebrate Read Across America Day with a fun drop-in Seuss-themed craft throughout the day at the Greenwich Library.
  • Friday, March 3 – Sunday, March 5 & Friday, March 10 – Sunday, March 12 :: Enjoy St. Catherine’s Players’ production of The Little Mermaid.

Monroe

New Canaan

  • Saturday, March 4 :: Bring the whole family to learn how maple syrup is made for the Family Boil Down at the New Canaan Nature Center. Event is free and open to the public.
  • Saturday, March 18 :: Celebrate the bounty of the 2017 syrup season with a pancakes & PJs brunch at the New Canaan Nature Center.

Newtown

  • Wednesdays :: Experiment with science at Everwonder Children’s Museum’s Science Lab. Activities for March include Spoon Maracas, Sound Sandwiches, Water Xylophone Experiment, Paper Plate Guitars, and Pin Strummer Activity.
  • Friday, March 17 :: Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with special themed activities at Everwonder Children’s Museum.

Norwalk

  • Saturday, March 4 :: Bring your kids to make and paint their own Rain Gauge at Home Depot.
  • Saturday, March 18 – Sunday, March 19 :: Bid farewell to winter with a tropical getaway at the Maritime Aquarium’s Long Island Sound Luau.

Redding

  • Sunday, March 5 :: View reptiles from all parts of the world as part of Reptiles Rock! at New Pond Farm.
  • Sunday, March 12 :: Try out the farm life doing Farm Chores at New Pond Farm.

Ridgefield

Shelton

  • Sunday, March 5, Thursday, March 16, & Thursday, March 30 :: Paint the night away with your kids at one of The Giggling Pig’s Parent and Child Events. March 5 is “Moana Inspired!”, March 16 is “Rainbows End,” and March 30 is “Little Miss Fox.”

Southport

  • Thursday, March 2 :: Listen to your favorite Dr. Seuss stories to celebrate the 113th birthday of Dr. Seuss at the Pequot Library. Free, no registration required.
  • Saturday, March 11 :: Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day early by watching an Irish Dance performance at the Pequot Library. Free, no registration required.

Stamford

Stratford

  • Saturday, March 4 :: Bring your kids to make and paint their own Rain Gauge at Home Depot.

Trumbull

Weston

  • Saturday, March 18 :: Enjoy a little luck of the Irish at Lachat Town Farm. Activities include spring pea planting, a Pot o’ Gold Scavengar Hunt, and traditional Irish music and crafts.

Westport

  • Sunday, March 12 :: Join Irene Penny Photography at Athleta Westport at 9:30 AM for a BodyBlast coached by Staples High School trainer Coach G and get free fitness portraits taken during class. 
  • Sunday, March 19 :: Watch a fun performance of The Cat in the Hat at the Westport Country Playhouse. Recommended for ages 3 and up.

Wilton

  • Thursday, March 2 :: Celebrate Read Across America Day and the birthday of Dr. Seuss with stories, a craft, and an interactive scavenger hunt at the Wilton Library. 
  • Saturday, March 4 & Saturday, March 11 :: Learn about the history and process of making syrup at Ambler Farm’s Maple Syrup Open House.
