A Mom’s Guide to Fairfield County :: February 2017

It’s February and love is in the air! So is cabin fever, so here is a list of family fun events to enjoy this month. This is in no way intended to be a comprehensive event guide, so if you have suggestions or any great events that we’ve missed, please leave a comment to let us know!

  • Saturday, February 4 :: Bring your kids to make and paint their own Valentine’s Photo Box at Home Depot.
  • Friday, February 10 :: Explore the Sanctuary at the CT Audubon Society at night, followed by hot cocoa and a visit from an owl. Appropriate for all ages, pre-registration is required.
  • Friday, February 24 – Sunday, February 26 :: Skate on Sherman Green. There also will be visits from characters, music, hot chocolate, snacks, warming tents, and other great family fun activities. All proceeds will benefit LIVFREE and Al’s Angels. Limited space available, pre-purchase your tickets at Saugatuck Sweets after February 3.
  • Monday, February 27 – Sunday, March 5 :: Enjoy some delicious eats during Fairfield Restaurant Week.

  • Friday, February 3 :: Enjoy an evening of family ice skating at Dickinson Park. There will be music, hot chocolate, a bonfire, and rides with Lucy the Polar Bear. The event will be held ice or no ice. Free event, but register ahead of time.
  • Tuesday, February 7 :: Learn about the symmetry and lines of symmetry through making a butterfly out of hearts at Everwonder Children’s Museum.

Norwalk

  • Saturday, February 4 :: Bring your kids to make and paint their own Valentine’s Photo Box at Home Depot.
  • Saturday, February 11 :: Dance the night away at Stepping Stones Museum for their first Family Disco. Reservations are required.

  • Saturday, February 18 & Sunday, February 19 :: Pick up some new books at Pequot Library’s Mid-Winter Book Sale.

Stamford

  • Friday, February 3 & Wednesday, February 8 :: Get fit with The Training Floor and Fairfield County Moms Blog as part of our fitness event series. Get your tickets in advance (here for Friday, February 3 and here for Wednesday, February 8).
  • Saturday, February 4 :: Ride in a horse drawn carriage in Mill River Park. Rides will be approximately 15 minutes long and registration is on an hourly basis.
  • Saturday, February 11 :: B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Bear) to a Teddy Bear Tea Party at Stamford Museum & Nature Center. For ages 3 and up. Space is limited, so book early.
  • Sunday, February 26 :: Get fit with Fit4Mom Fairfield, County and Fairfield County Moms Blog as part of our fitness event series. Get your tickets in advance.

Stratford

Trumbull

  • Saturday, February 4 :: Bring your kids to make and paint their own Valentine’s Photo Box at Home Depot.
  • Saturday, February 11 :: Kids (ages 5-10) can create a Valentine’s Day “Stained Glass” Candle Holder and make a Valentine’s Day card for a resident of a local assisted living facility at Trumbull Nature & Arts Center. Parent drop-off.
  • Sunday, February 12 :: Decorate Valentine’s Day cookies at Trumbull Nature & Arts Center. Ages 12 and under. Space is limited.
  • Saturday, February 25 :: Kids (ages 5-11) can learn how fossils are formed and how to identify them at Trumbull Nature & Arts Center. Parents are welcome to stay.

Westport

Wilton

  • Saturday, February 4 :: Kids can learn to stitch their own satchet at the at the Wilton Historical Society. Space is limited, registration required.
  • Friday, February 17, Monday, February 20, & Tuesday, February 21 :: Kids (3-4, 5-7) can discover a winter wonderland and explore the snowy woodlands and frozen pond at Woodcock Nature Center’s Winter Break Enrichment Program.
