Five Ways to Save on Fairfield County Attractions & Things-to-Do

0

A family walking down the street. In my last post, I told you my family’s five favorite things to do in Fairfield County; but, what I didn’t tell you was that for everything we do, we rarely pay full price, and sometimes we don’t pay at all.

Here are five ways that you can save on Fairfield County attractions:

Borrow your Library’s Museum & State Park Passes
Our library offers passes for free admission to the Beardsley Zoo, Connecticut State Parks, Discovery Museum and Planetarium, Earthplace, Stamford Museum and Nature Center, and many more. They also offer some passes for discounted admissions. Every library has different offerings, and different loan policies, so I suggest that you ask your library the next time you visit.

Daily Deal Sites
In addition to occasional deals for some of Fairfield County’s most popular attractions, I’m always seeing deals for local fun centers, bounce houses, bowling, ice skating, and even art or gym classes. There are no shortage of daily deal sites to visit, I suggest that you try: Groupon, Living Social, and Girlfriend Grab, just to name a few.

Become a Member
If you’re planning to visit any one place often, then ask about their membership costs and benefits, then do the math. For example, we have the “Individual Plus One” membership to the Maritime Aquarium, and it cost $100. Since children under 3 are always free, I can use my “plus one” for my husband, mom, or a friend. Regular adult admission is $19.95, so the membership paid for itself in less than 3 visits.

Free Entrance Days, Times, or Classes
The Bruce Museum offers free admission every Tuesday, Bartlett Arboretum offers free admission every Wednesday, Stepping Stones Museum offers free admission on the first Thursday of every month from 5:00PM – 8:00PM, and you can try your first classes for free at Great Play and Music Together. I’m sure there are many more that I don’t know of, but you can easily find out online or call and ask.

Special Deals for Aquarion Customers
If you’re a customer of the Aquarion Water Company, you can receive Buy One, Get One Free Admission and/or other discounted deals to the Beardsley Zoo, Bridgeport Bluefish, Stamford Museum and Nature Center, and more. They also have a BOGO offer for the Mystic Aquarium (I know it’s not in Fairfield County, but I think it’s worth the trip!).
