It makes me sad that my daughter won’t remember these early years of her life.
While I’ll certainly tell her stories of the things I do remember—her pooping in the tub on her first Christmas Eve and the time we had to go to the emergency room because she dislocated her elbow—I know I won’t remember it all, which is why from the moment I found out I was pregnant, my husband and I created an email address for our daughter. It’s basically a digital scrapbook.
I got the idea from a former boss of mine who created email addresses for his two daughters. The point is to email things you want to share with your child but may not remember. Then, on their 18th birthday you give them the login information to the email.
I emailed my daughter during my pregnancy. Here’s an example:
There will come a time when my daughter remembers the moments I email her about. I hope she enjoys seeing those moments through my eyes. This reminds me that I need to email my girlie about the latest: Talking in her sleep. The HILARIOUS things she says in her sleep are better than late-night TV. I’ll save that for another post.
Do you have a unique way of capturing your memories? We’d love to know…comment below!
Love this! We did the same for our boys and it’s been a great way to keep track of the little things and send pictures.
It’s easy, too, which means I’ll keep up with it!
