When Amy and Michelle, owners of FCMB, approached me about doing a sports-drink related sponsored post, I jumped at the chance. I’m always on the lookout for something to enhance my performance! BodyArmor is a premium sports drink that provides superior hydration and is loaded with potassium-packed electrolytes, vitamins, coconut water and contains nothing artificial!BODYARMOR

BodyArmor and my children…

As a mother to a 5 1/2 year old boy, I am always trying to find ways to wear him out keep him active. In just a few short years, he has dabbled in ice skating, running, and baseball, but has recently discovered a love of soccer. Throughout all of these athletic endeavors (combined with our own dog walking, hiking, and bike riding), I worry about his nutrition and how he hydrates; especially on warmer days. Truth be told, he (and his younger brother) have been known to down bottles of sports drinks, but I have always wondered about some of the artificial sweeteners and colors in those products.

We brought two flavors, Fruit Punch and Mixed Berry, with us to play tennis the next day. He loved it and was quite the taste-tester bouncing back between the two, trying to decide which he liked more. My son eloquently said, “It tastes like, you know, more real stuff. My body likes it, so let’s go play some more.” And, we did.

What’s important to him is the taste. But what’s important to me is what’s in it. BodyArmor is gluten free, nut free, preservative free and also contains vitamins, minerals and 600 mg of potassium. (A medium banana contains 500 mg!). Potassium is an incredibly important mineral for athletes of all ages because it works with sodium to balance fluids and electrolytes in the body. It also helps prevent muscle cramping. Knowing all of that makes me feel confident with what I am allowing my son to put into his body during sporting events and every day!

BodyArmor for myself…

I’m three weeks away from running my next marathon so fueling and hydrating is a constant battle on these long, hot summer days. I do what I can (like starting runs at 5am!) but knowing what to eat and drink and when, is always a balancing act regardless of when I’m out there.

When we received our BodyArmor, I was honestly a little hesitant to deviate from my normal hydration routine as I geared up for a hilly 18-mile Saturday run, but I did and I’m incredibly glad!

Anytime I run for more than an hour I bring hydration with me. I’ve run with every different type of hydration ‘kit’ from a backpack to a handheld bottle but have settled into a bottled belt. I poured some Fruit Punch into my 5 oz soft flask and Tropical into my 8 oz. before tying them into the back pouches. I brought the rest of the Fruit Punch for some post-run hydration.

While I was out on the roads I felt great. The BodyArmor went down easily and helped wash down my fuel (chews). I made my running buddies try a sip and they all loved it. They agreed that it’s very light, not overly sweet and the flavors are not overwhelming. We’ve all tried powdery, flaky, fake-tasting sports beverages but this was so much better. I will definitely be reaching for the BodyArmor for my family’s hydration needs!
