Affirmations for Mom and How They Work

0

Sure, I’ve been a believer in  affirmations for some time and use them to stay positive and focus my mind on my goals. To “affirm” something, by dictionary definition, means that you declare it to be true. But it wasn’t until I used the I Promise Myself affirmation on a daily basis, that I felt my awareness shift. It was then that the ideas stuck with me and informed my decisions throughout the day.

I figured that when the repetition led to memorization of the affirmations it became internalized. Research shows this was brought about by a brain function called the Reticular Activating System. RAS is like a filter that lets in information we need and filters out information that we don’t. It allows our brain to register what matters to us based on our goals, needs, interests and desires. When you affirm something over and over, it sends a very clear message to your RAS that this is important to you. When you do that, your mind gets busy noticing ways to help you achieve your goals. In essence, the affirmation can crank your creativity into high gear. Where the intention goes so the energy flows, right? Here it is:search

I Promise Myself, By Christian D. Larson

To be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person I meet.

To make all my friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true.

To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every living creature I meet.

To give so much time to improving myself that I have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of myself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words, but in great deeds.

To live in the faith that the whole world is on my side, so long as I am true to the best that is in me.

Repeat this to yourself first thing each day and notice the effects. We’re all busy moms who need life-enhancing, practical techniques if were going to adopt them. While some may say it is like, “fake it until you make it,” it feels more authentic to say it’s more holding the vision of what I know can be true. If you create your own, be sure your affirmations are carefully formatted statements to be repeated to yourself and written down frequently. Affirmations as the practice of self-empowerment are best when written and verbalized in present tense and are positive, personal and specific. Since its said it takes a month to create a new habit, give it that much time to work its magic on your psyche. Can you imagine what it will be like when your affirmations match your reality?
