The Most Popular Baby Names of 2015

Baby-Names

For the sixth year in a row, Sophia topped the girls’ list of BabyCenter’s Top 100 Baby Names of 2015, and Jackson remained the number 1 name for boys for the third year running. In fact, the most popular girls’ names — Sophia, Emma, and Olivia — have all been in the top three for four years now.

Here are BabyCenter’s Top 10 Baby Names of 2015:

Girls:

1. Sophia
2. Emma
3. Olivia
4. Ava
5. Mia
6. Isabella
7. Zoe
8. Lily
9. Emily
10. Madison

Boys:

1. Jackson
2. Aiden
3. Liam
4. Lucas
5. Noah
6. Mason
7. Ethan
8. Caden
9. Logan
10. Jacob

Even though these are the top baby names I actually don’t know any baby or toddler with the names on the girls’ list. I know a few tots with the names on the boys list, though. I decided to see how popular my daughter’s name, Lena, is compared to these names. The website nameberry.com has a fun tool that allows you to type your child’s name and it calculates how popular it is. Lena came up as #279 in the U.S.

How popular is your child’s name? When coming up with a baby name, do you stray from the popular names?
